We all have to shower, right? It’s a part of our daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly routines. Really, it’s a LIFETIME routine. We might as well make it easier, less cluttered, and more fun! From bathing to organization, we’ve got tons of ideas that are fun, save money, and will make your bathroom cozy and neat! Check out our 15 life hacks that will change the way you shower.
1. De-Wrinkle Clothing While Showering
Are you a fan of taking super steamy showers? Well then, why not de-wrinkle your work outfit while you shower? That’s right! De-wrinkle while you shower! The steam produced by your shower can quickly and easily get rid of wrinkles in your clothing. Simply hang your outfit from a towel rack, or inside the door to the bathroom, and allow the steam to penetrate the fabric of your outfit. It will save you time AND money!
2. Coat Hooks instead of Towel Racks
Do you have roommates whose damp towels gross you out? I wouldn’t want someone’s wet and dirty towel touching mine either! The solution is simple: coat hooks. Instead of using towel racks, use individual coat hooks to hang your towels. That way, no one’s towel is contaminating anyone else’s! Plus, it makes your bathroom look fun and modern!
3. Unclog Drain with Alka-Seltzer and Vinegar
Instead of using harsh and dangerous chemicals, try using a mixture of Alka-Seltzer and vinegar to unclog your bathtub/shower drain. It won’t work for serious clogs, but it will certain help clear things up. Just drop a couple of Alka-Seltzer tablets down the drain, following it up with 1 cup of vinegar. Let that solution work its magic, and then run some hot water on through. Things should be draining much better afterwards!
4. Avoid Rust Marks
Are you sick and tired of rust rings that come from your shaving cream canister? They’re the WORST! We have a simple solution: turn your shaving cream bottle upside down. I know, I know, why didn’t that occur to you sooner? I thought the exact same thing. Say goodbye to those rust rings, and hello to a cleaner shower that needs much less scrubbing!
5. Use Perfume Immediately After Showering
Locking in scent is just like locking in moisture, you want to apply while your pores are open and ready to absorb. Before stepping out of the shower, spritz on your favorite perfume! You’ll carry that amazing scent with you until bedtime! Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself.
6. Use a Cotton T-Shirt to Dry Hair
Contrary to popular belief, wet hair is actually more delicate than dry hair. So when we towel dry our hair with rough, synthetic towels, we are actually doing more damage than we know! Try using a cotton t-shirt instead. The soft, natural cotton will help to reduce any damage that could occur when using a rough, regular towel.
7. Moisturize in the Shower
Moisturizing in the shower can save you tons of time. It sounds strange, and is fairly unconventional, but it’s all the rage! Products like Nivea’s In‑Shower Body Lotion are specifically designed for this purpose, but using regular lotion in the shower can probably yield the same results. The key is to lock in moisture while your pores are steamed and ready to absorb the moisturizing goodness of lotion!
8. Roll your Towels
Save space by rolling your clean towels instead of folding them. No only is it space saving, but it’s easier and timesaving. Plus, rolled towels can serve as a great decoration! Bundle up some rolled towels into a basket, set it on display in your bathroom, and let the compliments commence!
9. Store your Hairdryer in a Magazine Holder
Are you accustomed to just shoving your hair dryer into a drawer or cabinet? Me too. An easy way to keep things organized is by using a magazine holder to store your hair dryer! It’s true. It works wonders. Simply affix, preferable with a screw, a magazine holder into the inside of a bathroom cabinet and voila! You have an easy way to neatly store your hair dryer.
10. Magnetic Makeup Organization
Use a magnetic board to organize your makeup! It will make things easier, cleaner, and adorable. Either purchase magnetic makeup containers or super glue small magnets to the backs of your existing makeup containers. Try using a decorated magnetic board. It is too cute!
11. Use an Over-the-Door Shoe Organize for Products
Do you struggle with keeping your crazy number of bath and body products in order? I certainly do! Use a plastic or mesh shoe organizer to keep your products together and organized. Use it in the shower, or on the back of the bathroom door. You’ll be amazed! Never misplace your leave-in-conditioner again!
12. Hang an Extra shower Rod for added Space
Add an additional shower rod parallel to the original, add hooks, and hang products/loofahs/anything else from it! It saves space, and makes your shower feel futuristic and fabulous!
13. Install a Shelf over the Bathroom Door
For added space, install a shelf over your bathroom door. You can either place decorations, extra toilet paper, or towels up there. It is simple, fun, and helps keep you and your bathroom as organized as possible.
14. Clean Soap Scum with Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets don’t only get rid of static! Got soap scum? Use a dryer sheet to remove pesky soap scum from your shower. I know, it sounds silly, but it really works. Try it out!
15. Hang Spice Racks
Hang up spice racks on your bathroom walls for added space! They are exactly what you need for your hair care products. I mean, as women, we spend so much money on our quality hair care products, so why not flaunt and display them! Plus it will make reaching for, using, and putting away products so much easier. Simplicity makes a world of difference. Plus, added decor is always a bonus!
